OkeyLens reads the tiles on your okey rack through the camera and works out the highest total your hand can make.

How to use it

1. Open the app and point the camera at your rack.
2. Sweep the rack slowly. The tiles it finds pile up on the rack on screen; a tile that leaves the frame is not lost.
3. When the counter at the top reads 21/21 the hand is complete and the best total is calculated.
4. When the hand is over, press Reset.

The numbers on screen

• BEST TOTAL — the highest total of sets and runs your hand can make, next to the opening threshold: 99/101. The number turns green once the threshold is reached.
• (28:2)/34 — the same total read out in threes, the way it is said at the table: 28 threes with 2 left over. Opening needs 34 threes.
• PAIRS — the route to finishing with a hand of pairs. 3/5 means five pairs are needed to open that way.

Frequently asked

Tiles are not recognised, or read wrongly

• Add light; a hard shadow across the tiles is the most common cause.
• Hold the phone 30–45 cm from the rack and as square-on as you can.
• Space the tiles out a little; tiles pressed together can read as one.
• Tap the misread tile on screen and pick the right one on the page that opens.

Why do I enter the indicator tile myself?

The indicator is not on your rack, it sits in the middle of the table, so the camera never sees it. Once you enter it the joker is determined and counted.

The count goes above 21

When it is your turn the hand is 22 tiles, which is normal. If it goes above 22, correct the angle or tap the extra tile to remove it; after that Reset gives you a clean count.

Do I need an internet connection?

Recognition and the arithmetic run entirely on your phone. On the free plan a connection is still needed, because the daily scan allowance is counted on the server rather than by your device clock. With OkeyLens Pro the app works offline too.

What is free and what is Pro?

A few hands a day are worked out free. OkeyLens Pro removes the limit and removes the ads, with a weekly or monthly subscription that you can cancel at any time from your App Store account. If you have changed device, use Restore purchases in the settings.

I have used up today's scans — what now?

Three options: watch a short ad and earn more scans (at most three times a day), wait for tomorrow — the allowance comes back every day — or remove the limit altogether with a Pro subscription.

Where do the ads appear?

In two places: a banner in an empty part of the screen, and a rewarded ad you start yourself once your scans are used up. No ad covers the screen at launch or in the middle of a hand. Pro subscribers see no ads at all.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later.
