OkeyLens — Privacy Policy

Effective 5 September 2026 · Version 1.0.1

TürkçeEnglish

OkeyLens is an app that recognises the tiles on your okey rack through the camera and works out what your hand scores. This document explains which data the app touches, which it does not, and what your rights are.

1. Summary

2. Data controller and contact

The developer of the app and the data controller under Turkish law (KVKK no. 6698) and the GDPR is Mehmet Afif Arsay. You can write about anything in this document to mehmetarsay5@gmail.com.

3. Camera

The single purpose of the app is to recognise okey tiles in the image coming from the camera. For that we ask for the iOS camera permission; if you do not grant it the app still opens but cannot recognise anything.

Frames from the camera are processed by two machine-learning models on the device. Those models ship inside the app; they do not go online to work. Frames are not written to disk, are not added to your photo library and — unless you send a problem report yourself, see section 6 — never leave the device. When you close the app the current frame is dropped from memory.

The app does not access your photo library and does not ask for permission to.

4. Stored on your device

The following stay on your device only and are not sent to us:

WhatWhyWhere
Whether you have seen the introductionSo it is not shown at every launchApp settings
Recently used indicator tilesSo you can pick one with a single tapApp settings
Game preferences (variant, house rules, opening threshold)So you do not set them again every handApp settings
Daily counter of reports sentTo enforce the daily limit in section 6App settings
Anonymous identity tokenCreated only if you send a report (see section 6)iOS Keychain

Deleting the app removes all of this from the device.

5. Data we do not collect

Name, surname, e-mail, phone number, date of birth, location, contact list, calendar, health data, payment details, cookies and permanent hardware identifiers: none of these are collected. There is no sign-in.

The app carries two kinds of ad: a banner that sits in an empty part of the screen, and a rewarded ad you start yourself once your free scans for the day are used up. There are no app-open or interstitial ads; no ad ever interrupts the hand you are playing. Pro subscribers see no ads at all. Details are in sections 6c and 12.

6. Problem reports

The warning button in the top-right corner of the screen sends a problem report — it is how you tell us "the tiles are not being read correctly". A screenshot taken at that moment goes with the report so that we can look into it. That image contains both the scene the camera sees and what the app is showing on screen (the recognised tiles, the rack, the total); the raw camera image is not sent. In detail:

The legal basis is your explicit consent (KVKK art. 5/1, GDPR art. 6(1)(a)): you give it by tapping Send and withhold it by not sending a report. If you want an image you have already sent to be deleted, see section 10.

6b. Subscription

The OkeyLens Pro subscription is sold through the App Store. Your payment details stay with Apple; no card number, name or billing information reaches us.

To verify whether a subscription is valid and to let you restore it when you change device we use RevenueCat. What goes to RevenueCat is the App Store purchase record and an anonymous user identifier created by the app; it is not linked to your name or your Apple account.

On the free plan, so that the daily scan allowance can be counted, a counter is written to the server each time we show a result. All that is written is the anonymous installation identifier, the date and how many times it has been used that day; your tiles, your hands and your scores are not sent. The only reason the counter lives on the server is so that the device clock does not decide when the day turns over.

6c. Scans earned by watching an ad

When your free scans are used up you can, if you want to, watch a short ad and earn more scans. At most three times a day. You are free not to watch: your allowance comes back the next day, or an OkeyLens Pro subscription removes the limit altogether.

The ads are served by Google AdMob. When an ad is shown, data such as your device's advertising identifier, coarse (country-level) location and device and app information reaches AdMob; that data is subject to Google's privacy policy. We neither see nor store it.

Google's server confirms to us that the ad was really watched. The only things that reach us in that confirmation are the anonymous installation identifier created by the app and the reward's transaction number; it carries nothing about your identity, the ad you watched or the advertiser.

Pro subscribers are shown no ads at all.

7. Service providers and international transfer

The frames in section 6 and the scan counter are stored on Google Firebase (okeylens-dataset); the anonymous identity token comes from Google Identity Toolkit. Subscription verification goes through RevenueCat, Inc. Ads (banner and rewarded) are served through Google AdMob (section 6c). On the Firebase side Google acts purely as a hosting provider and does not use the data for its own purposes; on the AdMob side Google's own privacy policy applies. Servers may be located outside Türkiye; by turning the setting on you also consent to that transfer (KVKK art. 9, GDPR Chapter V).

The SDKs embedded in the app are limited to these: RevenueCat (subscriptions) and Google Mobile Ads (banner and rewarded ads). Apart from those there is no other server the app connects to and no other third-party service it uses.

8. Retention

Frames that have been sent are kept as long as the recognition model is being trained and are deleted once the purpose no longer applies. The preferences on your device stay until you delete the app.

9. Security

Everything that goes over the network is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS. The anonymous identity token is held in the iOS Keychain rather than in plain text and is marked so that it does not end up in device backups. The app stores no other credentials.

10. Your rights

Under KVKK art. 11 and the GDPR you have the right to learn whether your personal data is being processed, to request information about it, to ask for it to be rectified, erased or destroyed, and to object to the processing.

If you want the frames you sent to be deleted, write to mehmetarsay5@gmail.com. Because we hold nothing that identifies you, the only way we can match your request is the anonymous installation identifier in the app; that is why you need to write before deleting the app. Requests are answered within 30 days at the latest.

11. Children

The app is suitable for all ages (4+) and does not knowingly collect data from children. To keep children from turning on the setting in section 6, it is kept in a hidden part of the game settings page.

12. Tracking and advertising

The data we collect is not used for tracking as Apple defines it: it is not combined with data from third parties, is not used for ad targeting and is not sold to data brokers.

Google AdMob, which serves the ads, can however use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for tracking. That is why, before starting the ad SDK, the app shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission prompt:

Either way the choice only affects advertising; nothing that goes to our own server changes.

The ads in the app are a banner and, once your free scans are used up, a rewarded ad you start yourself (section 6c). No ad covers the screen at launch or in the middle of a hand. Your game information — your tiles, your hands, your scores — never goes to the ad network in any form. Pro subscribers are shown no ads at all.

Data that Apple itself collects while you download and use the app (download statistics, and crash and usage reports if they are enabled in your device settings) is subject to Apple's privacy policy and does not reach us in a form linked to your identity.

13. Changes to this document

If the policy changes this page is updated and the effective date at the top changes. If there is a material change in the data collected or the purpose, the change is also announced inside the app.

14. Terms of Use

The app is subject to Apple's standard end user licence agreement (EULA): Terms of Use (EULA). The same link appears on the app's subscription screen and in the App Store description — Apple requires it in all three places for apps offering auto-renewable subscriptions (Guideline 3.1.2(c)).
